Moat House Leisure and Neighbourhood Centre are having their 3G outdoor facilities upgraded. It will be a state-of-the-art, FA approved 3G outdoor pitch with floodlights.
The current football pitch has served the city well for more than ten years, hosting various Coventry clubs and residents.
Opening in mid-April, the pitch will be ready soon after leisure centres are proposed to re-open next month.
The work comes as part of the terms and conditions of the Football Foundation Grant that was previously awarded to improve football and physical activity development in the area.
Cllr Kamran Caan, Cabinet Member for Public Health and Sport at Coventry City Council, added: “The resurfacing of the pitch at Moat House Leisure and Neighbourhood Centre will be fantastic and a great refresh for the centre. The rest of the facilities are brilliant, so the pitch will sit nicely amongst those.
I look forward to seeing the pitch in its finished state and seeing it used by the people of Coventry.”
The resurfacing of the pitch is funded by Coventry City Council and will continue to support several football programmes, local clubs, and local communities to participate in outdoor activity in the city.
Moat House already showcases state of the art TechnoGym Skill line ranges, Olympic standard equipment and new cardio machines for its members and customers.
