Phoenix Theatre making long awaited debut at the Rep

The internationally acclaimed and Leeds-based Phoenix Dance Theatre is set to perform at Birmingham Rep for the very first time on 12 March. 


To celebrate their milestone 40th birthday Phoenix Dance Theatre are bringing together a range of work from across the Company’s illustrious history in 40 Years of Phoenix. The programme features an eclectic selection of work by internationally acclaimed and award-winning choreographers, including former Phoenix Artistic Directors and collaborators.


Phoenix Executive Director, Charis Charles, said: “We are delighted to present ‘40 Years of Phoenix’ at Birmingham Rep; the first time the Company has performed at this city centre venue. The evening comprises diverse works from across the decades and we are keen to share the programme with new audiences from across the Midlands. We are excited to reconnect with Birmingham after the pandemic halted our touring plans, and we look forward to continuing to build our relationship with the city, knowing the strong commitment to dance that runs through the region.”


Artistic Director Dane Hurst said: “The ‘40 Years of Phoenix’ programme encapsulates the depth, breadth, and complexity of dance in five key works within the repertoire of the Company that is a distillation of the energy, exuberance, and spirit of Phoenix through the decades”.
