As we draw closer to the International Children’s Games, the first selection event for children to join Team Coventry for the Games will be taking place on Thursday 27 January at Barr’s Hill School.
The first selection event is for boys 3 x 3 basketball where a locally selected panel will select individuals to represent our city during the international event taking place 11-16 August 2022. The girl’s selection will also be taking place soon.
All secondary schools in Coventry have been invited to bring along any talented basketball players to the selection event so that they have the chance to be a part of Team Coventry.
Cllr Abdul Salam Khan, Deputy Leader, Coventry City Council and Chair of International Children’s Games Stakeholder Board, said: “It’s great to see that the selection events are starting to take place. Before we know it, we will have a full ‘Team Coventry’.
“It will be a brilliant afternoon and I hope many secondary schools in the city bring their talented basketballers to the event so that they can have the opportunity to compete with other young international athletes “
The International Children’s Games in Coventry will be the first in the history of the Games to be inclusive and see disabilities celebrated throughout. Basketball 3×3 will take place in Broadgate in Coventry’s city centre during the Games.
Please note, this is a private event with invitations sent directly to the secondary schools in Coventry only, for school years nine and ten.
For more information, schools can email their respective School Games Organiser.
